Our mystery is solved – we’re going to Yokosuka, Japan in the spring of next year! Jose and I are both very excited, and I’ve begun the extensive and complicated process that is preparing to move. Researching travel options for the Boo, planning on how we’ll move out of our house, and figuring out a timeline for the whole process are just a few of the things on the list of chores for the past few weeks.
I’m so excited to go back, but I’m also excited to be going with Jose. Traveling alone can be lots of fun – you can decide where you want to go and what you want to do. For me, this usually means visiting galleries and art museums, which I adore because I can take my time and don’t have to worry about anybody getting bored.
But the con of traveling alone is that when you see something fascinating or ironic, there is no one there to point it out to. There is also no one to explore with, so sometime you see interesting things but you lose your nerve a bit out of fear of getting lost or kidnapped. It does really worry me though, being a ninja and all.
However, traveling with the boy is always more fun, because I have someone to chit chat with, I can still make him go to artsy things, and I have my own personal bouncer.
For the time we’ve spent in Hawaii, Jose and I have been traveling mostly alone. He to exciting locals such as San Diego, Guamania, and El Salvador, and me to exciting lands such as Ft. Meade, Maryland, Bali, and the Philippines. I look forward to sharing the traveling with him, and showing him around one of my favorite cities ever, the amazing wonder that is Tokyo. We decided to get Rosetta Stone for Christmas, and I’ve been reading up on Japanese culture so I can try to be Japanese as soon as possible.
And we should arrive in time to catch a few cherry blossoms and train to climb Mt. Fuji. OH MY GOODNESS I’M SO EXCITED!
